About WatkinsX Tariff Tracker
What it shows, where the data comes from, and its limits.
WatkinsX Tariff Tracker shows the US duties that apply to a product: the ordinary rate from the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, plus the Chapter 99 measures (Section 232, Section 301, Section 122 and country-specific provisions) whose notes list it, with the Federal Register notices that created and changed them.
How it works
- Every hour an update job checks the USITC HTS for a new revision. A new revision is downloaded, checked (line counts, code formats, Chapter 99 present) and published only if it passes; every rate that changed becomes a change event.
- The Chapter 99 U.S. notes are read from USITC’s official Chapter 99 document to find which HTS codes each measure lists, and which note each heading points to.
- The Federal Register API is searched for presidential, USTR, Commerce and CBP documents on tariff actions since January 1, 2025.
- Every source file is stored with its content hash, so any page can be traced back to the exact document it came from.
Limits
- Informational only. It is not a classification ruling, a duty determination, or legal or customs advice.
- Chapter 99 headings can add duty or exempt products; read each heading’s text. Precedence between measures, stacking rules and country-of-origin tests are not computed.
- Antidumping and countervailing duties and company-specific rates are not yet included.
- Program groupings are based on the heading numbers and texts; check the linked notices for each measure’s legal basis and status.
